Happy Halloween! Get ready for some heart melting cuteness in the form of a little boy and a darling costume handmade by his mum. :) This sweet family is near and dear to my heart – especially since they are photographers themselves. It’s truly an honor to create keepsake photos for a couple who specializes in doing just that!
Stephen and Sou-Wah are an incredible husband & wife photography team. They also happen to be the sweetest, kindest people you will ever meet. No words can describe how thoughtful and caring they are – and have been, to me specifically, over the past few years. They understand and relate to the lifestyle this profession creates – the flexible hours and late nights of editing, as well as the struggles of entrepreneurship that aren’t often talked about – like the isolation of working at home for yourself, by yourself. Not to mention the experience of relocating to a new city and planting roots, both professional and personal. Together we’ve celebrated each milestone that comes our way, whether it’s moving (and moving again), tackling new business endeavors, welcoming a baby (them, not me haha!), or getting engaged. I’m immensely grateful for their friendship and support, which is why this shoot in particular is so special to me.
Lucas’s detailed, DIY Russell costume (from the Disney Pixar movie Up) had him decked out from head to toe in scout uniform, complete with a Wilderness Explorer hat, pennant, handbook, and sash. The badges on the sash were made from felted furniture pads and iron-on transfers. His mummy and daddy were also ready for exploring in their Wilderness Explorer themed attire. Adventure is out there!
The lovely and ever-so-crafty Sou-Wah put together this amazingly accurate costume with supplies from The Dollar Tree. The adorable little backpack was made from a t-shirt!
Reading his Wilderness Explorer handbook. Their motto: “An explorer is a friend to all, be it plants or fish or a tiny mole.”
